@sebsauvage @pb @nojhan ce n’est pas un point de blocage fondamental pour l’entraînement d’un modèle libre.
@SciencesPoulet
@urlyman this, so much - I'm trying to shift to using, and contributing to, projects and services that practice human-scale computing, because this field is clearly not on a good trajectory
@michel_slm thank you. Trying to do the same. I need to do more
Playing Team Fortress 2 at 180Hz is honestly extremely trippy like what do you mean I can shake my camera around to look at multiple places at once and what do you mean things are still very clearly visible??! (I'm not sure I can explain this, it's just weird)
@gedankenstuecke makes sense, thanks for explaining!
And my general point of OSM >> corporate map services like Google/Apple Maps stands strong, this hasn't change.
(Also my preference of CoMaps over Organic Maps)
@lavaeolus @ditol @map_per yeah, it was just to give some more context as maps are always political and there's always uneasy compromises that need to be made somewhere.
E.g. "Maps are illegal in India for not displaying the government-mandated boundaries for Kashmir" - should that be done? For everyone? Users in that country? And how far a step is that to Gulf of America/Lake America? https://codeberg.org/comaps/comaps/issues/2964
If you should have missed the context, this post gives a good overview

You know who doesn't have to triage, hardly at all, ever? Billionaires, especially in this second gilded age. Run the numbers and see what we could do if billionaires paid even a small fraction of their fair share. It's staggering. It's obscene. And it is unacceptable.

@madkiwi oh yeah, for basic passives and semiconductors, Mouser and Digikey are absolute rip-offs. There are some parts that are cheaper from those two than LCSC though, however occasionally LCSC supplies counterfeit or recycled components.
@jpm yeah i’ve read a fair amount about the chip issues from some online outlets. Those I’d keep purchasing from reputable outlets. LCSC looks great for passive components, my initial purchase was a test purchase.

fyi, Federico and John have decided to take down our entire history of @comfortzonepodcast episodes from the MacStories YouTube channel (as well as @jonathanreed's @flepodcast it seems), supposedly because they didn't want to cause “confusion” since it's no longer a MacStories podcast.
what next, are they going to take down all our stories that were published on the site over the past few years so as not to "cause confusion"?
and if there were any confusion, it wouldn’t be helped by them choosing to not announce anything to their readers, on why all the contributors left, or why our podcasts suddenly disappeared from their feeds
@nileane @comfortzonepodcast and they are acting like nothing happened!

I made a list of websites that offer royalty-free images for your blogs and social media posts. I’ll keep the list updated over time.
Use these images instead of #AISlop! No more excuses!
Please reply with additional sites and I’ll add them to the list.

@bagder "internet transfer thing" would have also been a cool name: itt(1)
Of course there is a danger of misspelling the short version ... :shrug:
@jpmens The Internet Thing? 🤠

…The purpose of software is almost always to DO something. And DOING instrumentalises and changes minds. People post-rationalise what they have fallen into the habit of doing. And software scales very readily.
I’m not saying that it’s unproblematic to like Gill Sans even though its creator probably abused his own kids, or that it’s ok to like the music of the horrible anti-Semite, Wagner.
But fascist-made software is a different class of predicament
